Now you have viewed Eat/Move/Learn your task is choose which of the films you most liked and communicate why that is your preference. This can be done in the comments field at the bottom.
Below is a copy of the films, if you wish to watch them again:
The film I liked the most was "Learn". That is my preference because the shots weren't too short like in "Eat" and "Move" where it kind of looked, like a slide show. The length of the shots made me feel like I understood his experience better which lead to me relating to it better as I went through some of this experiences when I traveled.
The film i enjoyed the most was "Move". This is because i liked the way the film was edited and i found it the most unique and amazing one out of the 3 films. It also went very well with the music in the background and the locations that the film was shot in were very beautiful and made me want to travel and see the world the way that the film makers did.
The three short films Eat, Learn, Move, portray diversity in different forms. Each idea was presented similarly by using short shots of the diverse places that the filmmakers have been to. The video I enjoyed the most was "Learn" because the way it was edited was somewhat different as it gave the viewer time to take in each shot and recognize the jobs that were employed in the short video. This video also showed the importance and the art behind these numerous jobs. It is interesting because the character is filmed attempting each job, which reinforces their importance and diversity. This is an extraordinary experience for me as a viewer to see the 'behind the scenes' action involved with each job.
The film that i enjoyed watching the most was "move". The reason that this film really caught my eye was because of how clear the message that they were conveying is. What also made it extraordinary was the editing of the video itself which was thrown in with the matching music. The film was done professionally and filmed in some of the most gorgeous places around the world. Watching this video left me with one thing , the eagerness to travel the world and visit all the countries from the film to actually capture how beautiful the world is. Which i think is the real message they were trying to convey from watching this film.
The film I enjoyed the most was “Learn” for a number of reasons. In my opinion, the director of the film emphasized the word “Learn” from the beginning and continued showing shots of him learning different kinds of things. This film did the best job in terms of communicating to the audience since the person showed that it was easy to learn new things. The simplicity of the title also conveyed the idea of how easy learning can be. The man’s enthusiastic facial expressions along with the harmonious music in the background support the idea that learning is a fun experience. The shots in the video moved smoothly and this is because it shows how learning can be easy and enjoyable at the same time. I can relate to the man’s situation to my situation in school since he has people that teach him and other people learning with him. Another point that I found relatable was the fact that the person tried to learn from many different cultures. This point is relatable since I like travelling and I’m exposed to people who are from different cultures and religions. We can learn from every person we meet and from everything we do and I think that this message was communicated to us as an audience very clearly since it shows how there are many learning experiences that a person can face.
After looking at the three videos given (eat, learn, move), I preferred learn over them all due to the fact that there is nothing really interesting about moving around rather I believe its the experience and what you learn during the time is whats fascinating, as well as what you learn is what you'll remember.
Out of the three short films I enjoyed "learn" the most, the reason being is that I felt it related more than the other two. I love to try new things, go through different experiences and meet new people, as it seems Rick Mereki, Tim White and Andrew Lees have done through the process of creating this film. The great cinematography, choice of music and over all vibe of the film came across wonderfully. This gave the audience a sense of what the experience was like, and a positive feeling was reflected across. personally, it seems as though this film is the most educational and inspiring out of the three as it gives us a glance at the different cultures, religions, activities and crafts that are done and practised across the world. Being open to new ideas and taking risks sometimes is a great way to learn, broaden your horizon and shape yourself an individual.
The short film ‘Learn’ appealed to me the most. Perhaps it was simply the affection and amiability that passed between the people that captured my attention. Hence, I got a feeling of worldwide harmony from the video and found gratification in it.
I also found that there was a bit of the other two videos in this one. For example, as opposed to just seeing pictures of food, we observed how it was actually made. Furthermore, we saw the three men almost always in motion.
The viewer gets the chance to share in the experiences of the three men. A quest like this would be a dream come true for a person (such as myself) who craves adventure and loves to travel.
I really enjoyed "learn" the most out of all three videos. In my opinion, it is the most inspiring and interesting film because I enjoyed the concept of it. I think the three men showed an extensive amount of creativity and innovation through this short film. I like the technique the actor used to learn new things. He communicated with people from different cultures by using hand gestures and facial expressions. I think the music is suitable for this video because the scenes are fast and so is the music. Even though the actor didn't seem to know a certain language, he still managed to communicate well and learn something.
The three videos Eat, Learn, and Move were all very compelling. Each was similar in its own way to the other two. This is because every one of them showed diversity and how the cultures of a country represent it in forms of the aesthetic ways the people choose to use their natural resources. The films showed how human beings are all the same in their natural ways of eating and creating. People eat the food that they are provided with by Mother Nature of usually nearby places, making the food unusual and exotic in its own way to a foreigner. Creativity is important to cultures in order to innovate and enjoy the luxuries of life, be it physical or emotional. Innovation and mutual enjoyment is important in societies and healthy lifestyles however the acceptance of the fact that innovation and enjoyment can come from anywhere in the world is the most exciting and important element in a person’s heart. The video that best promoted such an ideology of cultural appreciation was “Move”. “Move” was a very fast and upbeat video and not easily understood by being watched only once. It showed how the world that we all live in is such a small place because every place is so similar to other one but just needs to be looked at—or filmed from—a keen eye. There are symmetrically attractive monuments, naturally beautiful places, special events and parties where one can enjoy himself. There was not much “air” in the “Move” video since most of the footage was dubbed with background music however there were little “gasps” of moments when the essence of an experience is heard suddenly, in contrast to all of the music. Transitions used in the video were following an entertaining pattern; the footage and music was monotonous for a while then all of a sudden it changed into something else. In addition, the best part about “Move” was that it was not only focusing on urban life, but also enunciating the tranquility in the still rural areas. Music played a major role in “Move” as it was present almost all of the time and the sound from the footage was mostly muted. It allowed the viewer to focus more on the visual creativity. When all of a sudden there would be unedited sound in the background, the viewer was captivated into that specific environment, that one moment of thrill. This was most likely to show how the world is beautiful all over when you look closely at it. In addition it makes listening more evident. When you look at the world properly, it will look beautiful but when you look and listen to it, it feels beautiful. “Move” was very repetitive and it showed how people with different backgrounds can be pleasant in similar and surprising ways. However, in order to keep true to its title, the pattern changed after it became probably too repetitive for the viewer. Along with the view, the pace of the music also changed and the next scene followed the new pace. The transitions used were like little triggers of something new and unique. Examples are when the man stopped at the airport after walking and the scene when he clapped making the all of the birds fly, allowing a more upbeat pace in the following scenes. Changing the pace can be symbolic for how many ways in which one can enjoy himself because not all forms of enjoyment are loud or fast but also steady. Many different places were shown in “Move” and they did not necessarily fit together hence showed diversity once again. As a viewer, I liked the variety in the settings as some were exciting and urban whereas others were quiet and serene. This could appeal to many different people because some like to go out to exciting places where one thing happens after another notwithstanding, another type of person may like undisturbed places. Overall, “Move” was a great, little piece of creativity that said a lot. A range of viewers would be attracted to it and most likely, like myself, would want to travel to new places. The music, contrasting transitions, and variety of places were all exciting and can be considered amiable by a variety of people.
